Prayer

A prayer for ordinary mornings

Refreshed · · 1 min read · Sample reflection

A morning does not need to be peaceful or perfectly planned to hold a moment of prayer. God is present in the kitchen, on the commute, and in the pause before the first task.

Before reaching for the day’s demands, try naming what is already here. You may feel hopeful, tired, distracted, or uncertain. Honest attention can become the beginning of a conversation with God.

The Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 gives us a rhythm of daily dependence. We ask for what we need today, seek forgiveness, and look for help in the choices ahead. We are invited to return to that rhythm again tomorrow.

Choose one small intention for this morning. Listen fully to someone. Take a break before answering a difficult message. Make space for a person who might otherwise be overlooked. Let your intention become a practical expression of your prayer.

A prayer to begin: Father, thank you for this new day. Give me what I need for the work before me. Help me notice the people you have placed in my path and respond with patience and love. Amen.
