Rest

Making room for rest

Refreshed · · 1 min read · Sample reflection

Some evenings, the day follows us into the quiet. A conversation replays. Tomorrow’s list grows longer. Even when our work is finished, it can be difficult to let our attention settle.

Rest begins with an invitation to stop carrying everything at once. In Matthew 11:28–30, Jesus welcomes those who are weary. You do not have to make the day look better before bringing it to him.

Try a small evening rhythm. Put your phone aside, lower the lights, and take a few unhurried breaths. Name one thing that felt heavy today. Offer it to God in your own words, without needing to solve it in that moment.

Then notice one gift: a kind message, a shared meal, a moment outdoors. Let gratitude sit beside the unfinished parts of your day. Both belong in an honest prayer.

Tonight’s prayer: God, thank you for meeting me here. Help me release what I cannot finish tonight and receive the rest available to me. Hold the people and concerns I love in your care. Amen.
