A busy week can narrow our attention to the next deadline, errand, or unfinished task. Kindness invites us to notice the person standing in front of us, even when our time and energy are limited.
In the story of the good Samaritan in Luke 10, compassion takes a practical form. Someone stops, notices a need, and offers care. That pattern can guide ordinary choices in our own neighborhoods and homes.
Choose one manageable act of kindness today. Check in with a friend. Let someone finish speaking. Offer specific help that you can follow through on. Small actions matter when they are given with attention.
Kindness also benefits from honesty about your capacity. A thoughtful “I can help tomorrow” can be more caring than a promise you cannot keep. Make room for generosity in a way that allows you to remain present.
An evening question: Where did I receive kindness today, and where did I have an opportunity to offer it? Thank God for what you noticed, and ask for fresh attention tomorrow.
